Exposing the students to different genres of writing will help them to become more confident in their writing abilities. HMH Writing, HMH Grammar, Writing Folders, Writing Notebooks, and more will be used to support this work.

Mathematics

This year we will continue to focus on problem solving strategies. It is essential that the students are familiar with giving a verbal/written explanation for their thinking, procedure choice, and to support their answers or solutions. We will utilize the Envisions program during math instruction. This program is designed to meet the Next Generation standards. You will notice that the children are required to write and strategize.

To support mathematical standards , all students will have time for Math Briefs. Math Games, use of materials from iReady, engageNY, Exemplars, and more Math supports.
